How we rank

Three inputs, weighted as below. The weights are read directly from the code that does the ranking, so this cannot drift from what actually ran.

60%Rating, adjusted for how many reviews back it
We use a Bayesian average: a rating from very few reviews is pulled toward the average across all listed practices, and a rating from many reviews is trusted close to its face value. Review counts are weighted on a log scale, so going from ten reviews to a hundred moves a practice much more than going from six hundred to seven hundred.
20%Verified treatment coverage
How many of the treatments a practice offers we have been able to verify, rather than how many they have claimed. Unverified claims count for nothing here.
20%Profile completeness
How much of the profile is filled in — hours, insurance, financing, languages, photos, description. A complete profile is more useful to read, and it is the input a practice controls directly.
